93% of school shooters planned the attack in advance

March 19, 2025

Random gun violence isn’t random. A study conducted by the U.S. Secret Service showed that upwards of 93% of school shootings involved complex planning on the part of the shooter. These attacks, by their very nature, tend to occur in places with which the attacker is intimately familiar; they know the building’s layout, exit locations, and often personally know the habits of the security personnel who would be tasked with stopping them.

The bottom line is that when school shooters have a plan, the lethality of their attacks increase while the time they need to inflict that unimaginable pain is drastically reduced. The window to save lives goes from minutes to seconds.

While schools have worked to beef up their own security by hiring security contractors and state-funded resource officers, those people, however brave, can only be in one place at once. The unfortunate results have spoken for themselves.

It’s time that we stop talking about solutions and start implementing some. At Campus Guardian Angel, we have found that solution to protect what is most important. With our 24/7 operated drone response, when police are minutes away, we’re there in seconds.
