Campus Guardian Angel Holds Successful Demonstrations in Florida, Engages with Law Enforcement and School Stakeholders Across Country
AUSTIN, TX – Over the past week, Campus Guardian Angel – an innovative, drone-based school safety service – has successfully completed demonstrations with law enforcement professionals, education leaders, and stakeholders showing the value of its technology in enhancing schools’ ability to keep students, teachers, and staff safe in active shooter situations.
Last Thursday, CGA conducted a demonstration at Florida Atlantic University (FAU) showing the effective, non-lethal, capabilities of the drones to work alongside law enforcement by providing greater situational awareness and buy critical time for responding officers in order to prevent injury and loss of life. These high-tech drones have multiple methods to impede or incapacitate an active shooter such as deploying flashbangs, pepper spray, or by using the drone itself to generate enough momentum to break through windows or deal a body blow to active shooter.
Speaking to NBC Miami during the demonstration at FAU last week, Campus Guardian Angel CEO and Co-Founder Justin Marston said:
“Ultimately it’s to save kids’ lives…Our goal is to respond in five seconds, to be on the shooter in 15 seconds, and to degrade or incapacitate in 60 seconds.”

This response time is incomparable to many proposed methods to handle an active shooter, and time is the most valuable asset you can have when lives are at risk.
Following the FAU demonstration, Marston described the concept behind Campus Guardian Angel and its goals to FOX 35 Orlando, drawing comparisons to other critical elements of school safety infrastructure that have been in place for decades:
“Somebody, a while ago had the idea of putting sprinkler systems in the buildings…before that paradigm shift, folks had to show up with fire trucks, and they still do that today, but the advantage of sprinkler systems is they’re already pre-staged in the school, so if there’s a fire they can go put water onto the fire immediately.
“We’re a lot like that, but with drones. We’ve pre-staged them in boxes throughout the school, and we can fly them real quick so, if somebody reports a school shooting, and we can see it on our screens in our headquarters in Austin, then we take the drones off and they fly real fast – it’s all about every second counts, every second means lives saved.”

Marston also confirmed that school district leaders from Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach have invited Campus Guardian Angel to hold demonstrations of the system’s school safety technology on campuses in their districts during the month of July.
Campus Guardian Angel Participates in School Safety Conferences Across Nation
Florida
Earlier this week, CGA leadership also participated in the Florida Association of School Safety Specialists Summit & Expo in Orlando, from June 9-11. This event had over 400 administrators from Florida schools and District Threat Management Coordinators from every Florida school district, allowing CGA to educate additional school district officials about these drones and showcase the company’s vision for modern day school safety.
Utah
Starting tomorrow, CGA will be participating in the Utah School Safety Conference from June 12-13 in West Jordan, Utah. Featured speakers at the conference include school shooting survivors and parents of survivors, bringing the conversation on active shooter defense to the center stage. During the conference, CGA leadership will be closely engaged with education leaders regarding the capabilities and protection the drone-based service can provide to campuses across the state and nation.
Texas
Later this month, CGA leadership will also participate in the Texas School Safety Conference from June 22-26 in San Antonio, Texas. This conference will bring together school administrators, school-based law enforcement officers, educators, emergency managers, school safety specialists, first responders, mental health providers and school board members with a focus on promoting positive cultures of safety and preparedness.
