Protecting Our Kids: What HB 462 Means for School Safety
March 20, 2025
Giving our schools the resources they need to keep kids safe should be one of the most basic functions of government. Unfortunately, the legislative solutions of the past have not produced the results we want. Since the passage of HB 3, which required a security guard on every campus, school districts that were already working with tight budgets were forced into an even harder spot. They had two options: raise taxes or fail to comply. Many districts were forced into the latter, leaving their students vulnerable.
HB 462 is an absolute game-changer for campus security.
It provides $100,000 per campus and a tenfold increase in the per-student allotment from the state, ensuring your kids are safe without increasing your taxes. Additionally, it expands the definition of school safety resources to help address the massive struggle of having to hire several armed security guards. HB 462 would allow our schools to implement cutting-edge drone technology, allowing law enforcement to respond more quickly, more effectively, and with less risk to students and themselves—all for a fraction of the cost of traditional security.
Campus Guardian Angel provides precisely that security. No person can be in multiple places at once. While traditional security methods rely on a single person to protect an entire campus, Campus Guardian Angel has innovated a solution which places the capabilities of elite law enforcement all across campus, monitored 24 hours a day.
