LITTLETON, CO – Today, Campus Guardian Angel announced its partnership with John Adams Academy Douglas County, a tuition-free public classical charter school in Sterling Ranch, Colorado, to launch the company's first Active Shooter Suppression System that uses drones remotely operated by world-class pilots to confront and degrade active shooter threats within seconds. John Adams Academy is the first public school in Colorado to launch the Campus Guardian Angel system, which is planned for installation in August 2026.

The partnership marks a major step forward for school safety in Colorado and brings one of the nation’s most innovative active threat response technologies to a public school campus. The system is designed to help locate, distract, delay, and disrupt an active assailant during the critical first moments of an emergency.

Campus Guardian Angel’s drones are stationed on campus and designed to deploy within seconds of a verified threat. Operated remotely by world-class pilots with specialized backgrounds in drone racing, military service, and law enforcement, the drones can provide live video and audio to support school safety teams and first responders, while also using non-lethal effects such as flashing lights, sirens, pepper gel, and kinetic hits to help stop or slow an attacker before law enforcement arrives.

The system is intended to work in coordination with law enforcement and trained school safety personnel. In an active threat situation, Campus Guardian Angel’s technology can help responders see what is happening in real time, identify the location of a threat, and intervene rapidly while police are en route.

John Adams Academy is showing the kind of leadership that school safety requires,” said Justin Marston, CEO and Co-Founder of Campus Guardian Angel. “Campus Guardian Angel was built to give schools and first responders what they need most in an active threat situation: time, visibility, and the ability to degrade a threat within seconds. We are proud to partner with John Adams Academy as the first school in Colorado to bring this technology to campus.

For John Adams Academy, the decision reflects a bold and proactive approach to student safety. The tuition-free public classical charter school, opening in Sterling Ranch, is building a campus where rigorous academics, moral character, civic virtue, and strong security work together to support students and families.

Parents trust us with what matters most - their children,” said Sarah Kiesewetter, founding headmaster of John Adams Academy Douglas County. “We are building a school where students can think deeply, aim high, and feel safe every day they walk through our doors.

As a school founder and board member, I believe there is no greater responsibility than protecting the children entrusted to our care,” said Kim Gilmartin, co-founder and vice chair of the John Adams Academy Board of Directors. “Our board is committed to doing everything within our power to ensure the security of our students and give parents peace of mind. At John Adams Academy, student safety and academic excellence go hand in hand.

John Adams Academy Douglas County is scheduled to open grades K–8 in fall 2026 in Sterling Ranch, with plans to grow into a full K–12 campus. The partnership reflects the Academy’s commitment to offering not only a rigorous classical education, but also a safe and prepared learning environment. Enrollment is still open, with seats available in select grades for the founding school year. Interested families are encouraged to apply now at https://www.jaadougco.org/

This is about leadership and ensuring every student on our campus is safe,” Gilmartin added. “We want parents to know that when they choose John Adams Academy Douglas County, they are choosing a school that takes both education and protection seriously.
