AUSTIN, TX – This week, the Georgia State Board of Education approved five Georgia school districts – Bulloch County Schools, Cherokee County School District, Coffee County School District, Gainesville City School System, and Troup County School System – to participate in a Campus Guardian Angel pilot program, bringing a new elite, on-site safety service representing the first Active Shooter Suppression System that uses drones remotely operated by world-class pilots to confront and degrade active shooter threats within seconds.

Campuses from each of the five districts that will be participating in the pilot program include:

  • Coffee County High School (Coffee County School District)
  • Gainesville High School (Gainesville City School System)
  • Statesboro High School (Bulloch County Schools)
  • Troup County High School (Troup County School System)
  • River Ridge High School (Cherokee County School District)

This year, the Georgia General Assembly appropriated $550,000 in the state budget for five Georgia school districts to participate in a Campus Guardian Angel pilot program, becoming the second state in the nation to do so after Florida's authorization of a pilot program in late 2025.

Campus Guardian Angel's drones are equipped with sirens, pepper gel, and other distraction devices designed to prevent a shooter from harming anyone while providing a critical advantage to law enforcement and first responders in order to save lives.

Following final approval from the Georgia State Board of Education, Campus Guardian Angel CEO Justin Marston and Chief Tactical Officer Bill King issued the following statement:

"We are thrilled to work with the State of Georgia to introduce an innovative and proactive approach to enhancing the safety of schools across the state. Georgia is now the second state in the nation to fund and implement a Campus Guardian Angel pilot program meant to give school districts and first responders every advantage in protecting the lives of students, teachers, and staff on campus. We are grateful to the Georgia General Assembly for embracing this critical new layer of school security, and look forward to working with each of the five pilot campuses to implement the Campus Guardian Angel system before classes begin in the fall.”

Campus Guardian Angel will be working with each participating district to install the drone service and associated infrastructure, and anticipates the service will be operational on each designated campus by the beginning of the Fall 2026 semester.
