A program in the works called Campus Guardian Angel uses drones as the first line of response against an active threat on a school campus. The group behind the program is spending the week in Austin demonstrating how it works.

“We are putting drones with less lethal affects in schools ahead of time so they can respond instantly to active shooter threats. [Our team] is looking for secondary confirmation this is real, and the moment they see something that says, oh, this is really happening, our goal is to have to drones in the air and be at that location within 15 seconds.”

– Campus Guardian Angel CEO and co-founder Justin Marston

“The situational awareness, and all of the stuff that you can start to get earlier, it’s massive.”

– Sgt. Bo Patton, Boerne Police Department
